Composite Merit Badge

Perhaps a better name for this badge is the MB that never ends! Our Scouts have completed all the book work for this badge, the final step is to make a project from composite materials. The project of choice was a bird house which is made from cardboard with a fiberglass cloth wrap for stucture and to provide some weather resistance. After each fiberglass lay up it is necessary to allow time for the resin to cure. Above the scout wearing appropriate safety gear cut fiberglass material in prepration for the first lay up.
Birds don't worry we will have them ready for you by spring!

Scouting for Food

Troop 18 particpated in Scouting for Food drive. The effort provided 18 bags of groceries to stock the Gasport Food Pantry at Zion Luthern Church. Six scouts and three leaders participated in hanging door tags and picking up food the following week. The photo shows a couple Scouts who made the delivery to the food pantry. Thanks to all in our community for their contributions.

Our Spaghetti Dinner was a HUGE success!

THANK
YOU to all the leaders, parents, scouts and especially our supporters for coming together to make this year's dinner a great success!

Although we had some difficult competition (The Firehall's event was a big draw on the same day), we still saw big crowds and had a strong attendance overall.

We sold 205 tickets pre-sale, with the biggest seller (and winner of the $25 Gander Mountain gift card) being Nate MacNeal. Thanks to all of the boys who worked so hard to sell tickets.

We only had 31 walk-ins this year, probably due to the firehall event being at the same time.

We still served 150 sit-down dinners and an additional 81 Take-outs for a total of 231 dinners.

Special thanks to the kitchen crew, many of which worked from sunrise to sunset to pull this off.

THANKS FOR ALL THE HARD WORK!
