2012 Towpath District Klondike Derby

This years Klondike derby was held at Camp Windy Meadows in Cambria, NY. It was hosted by Troop 8 of Cambria who did a great job of organizing the event. Thank you to them. There were 100 scouts and 40 leaders who participated. Despite the muddy conditions and no snow till Sunday morning the event was a success for all troops involved.
Congratulations to the T18 scouts who participated in the Klondike derby. They did an awesome job of working as a patrol and winning the overall trophy. This is the 6th consecutive time the troop has won the event. That is something to be very proud of. The scouts truly enjoy this event.

Gym night

Great night on Monday, as Troop 18 got together with our fellow scouts from Troop 23. Had a blast playing dodge ball, basketball, and kickball. It's nice to take a break from a regular meeting and enjoy some good fun. Thanks to the scouts from T23 for joining us.

New Scouts

All the leaders of Troop 18 would like to welcome the newest boys to the Troop. We had 5 boys join our troop this month. I hope they have an exciting scouting career in the years ahead.

Seven of our scouts participated in the GNFC's Polaris klondike derby this past weekend. They did very well; taking 3 first places, 2 second places and 1 third place. Our scouts enjoy participating in the klondike competitions and all they have to offer. From the skills to the team building events and yes, even sleeping out in tents in teen digits. Thank you to the Greater Niagara Council for accepting us in their derby.

Keystone Campout

Nothing but friends riding bikes. The trails that the troop decided to ride was a mix of beautiful site seeing, up hills, down hills, strait aways, and treks through mountains. The northern Pennsylvanian land along the aligani river was gorgeous, the river was calm, the foliage was a mix of colors.
Along with chefs Forrest dutch oven cooking. so lets hope some scouts getthere cycling merit badge at the up coming court of honer. ---Your fellow Scout Braxton

Our Spaghetti Dinner was a HUGE success!

THANK
YOU to all the leaders, parents, scouts and especially our supporters for coming together to make this year's dinner a great success!

Although we had some difficult competition (The Firehall's event was a big draw on the same day), we still saw big crowds and had a strong attendance overall.

We sold 205 tickets pre-sale, with the biggest seller (and winner of the $25 Gander Mountain gift card) being Nate MacNeal. Thanks to all of the boys who worked so hard to sell tickets.

We only had 31 walk-ins this year, probably due to the firehall event being at the same time.

We still served 150 sit-down dinners and an additional 81 Take-outs for a total of 231 dinners.

Special thanks to the kitchen crew, many of which worked from sunrise to sunset to pull this off.

THANKS FOR ALL THE HARD WORK!
